Kisumu, Kenya
Geography Kenya is situated in the Eastern part of the African Continent and is the economic hub of East Africa. It is almost bisected by the equator. It borders Ethiopia and Sudan to the North, Uganda to the West, Tanzania to the South, Somalia to the northeast, and Indian Ocean to the southeast.
Kenya has three cities namely, Nairobi, the capital and major manufacturing center, Mombasa, the port city and entry point to East and Central Africa and Kisumu, an attractive city and the chief port on the eastern shore of Lake Victoria, one of the Great Lakes of Africa. Established as Port Florence, the lakeside terminus of the Uganda Railway, over a hundred years ago, it has grown into a trade and transport hub for East Africa over the years. The population of Kisumu district is around 565,000, with perhaps two-thirds of that being the city population. The climate is warm and humid, moderated somewhat by the elevation of over 1,100 meters. The annual rainfall, during the long and short rains in March-June and October-December respectively, is 1,245 mm.

From here you can visit the equator as well as the Kakamega forest, Kisumu museum, and President Obama’s ancestral home. Transport Network Kisumu is well served with a good road transport network and the Kisumu airport with domestic flights available from Nairobi, Eldoret and Mombasa. The road network connects Kisumu to neighbours Uganda, Tanzania, Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
